Troy, thank you, as always, for your infinite patience. I will go to work on these, and hopefully come back to you with an almost finished, if not completely finished, product!

Troy, I want to thank you again, I am down to 1 syntax error! If you could help me identify it, I will be forever in your debt! Also, thanks for the FYI on the images that I need to store in my directory and regarding the Traffic Payout Offers; I will check into that next as my final touchups before submitting for Phase II!

You're welcome Steve. There were no errors showing after I made the above corrections, however when I loaded your page this time I saw a single error that said 'windows' is undefined. So, I did a search of your source code for "windows" (without the quotes) and there are 4 instances of this word, all in mouseover code. It should be "window.status" but instead you have "windows.status" with an "s" at the end of the first word. This is what is causing your latest errors. I noticed that each time I move my mouse pointer over one of the affected links and the malformed mousover code is activated, it adds an error to the list that Internet Explorer indicates via the yellow ! in the lower left corner of the status bar. To fix these errors, simply search for "windows" (without the quotes) in your source code and remove the "s" at the end, changing each instance to "window" so that the code reads "window.status" instead of "windows.status". One other thing I noticed was two images not showing up properly. Your links to the following two image files need corrected, as your domain name should not be appearing twice: Banner13MultipleStreams.gif banner7%20IAHBE.gif For the first image, your image source inside your <img> tag read as follows: src="www.financiallyfreebiz.com/img/Banner13MultipleStreams.gif" You should change the part in the quotes to either: img/Banner13MultipleStreams.gif or www.financiallyfreebiz.com/img/Banner13MultipleStreams.gifThe same type of fix is required for the second image. One additional note regarding these two images...your first has uppercase letters in the file name (which is fine as long as you match the file name and link to it *exactly*), while your second image name has a %20 in the middle of it. The %20 is caused by a space in the file name, which should be avoided. See the following FAQ post for more info on the naming conventions for Internet file and folder (or directory) names: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=tool&action=display&thread=1143747000&page=1#1145778477Troy

Troy, I'm back for more help. Due to the length of time it has taken me to get through phase 1, I had to apply to ROI Rocket before I could make the fixes to my site which you had suggested.
At this point, I could use your help with a couple items. First, the two images you had mentioned are not appearing on the page, even though I made the changes you suggested.
Second, there is a large white space on the right hand side of the web page. I am not sure how it got there, and need some advice on how to get rid of it.
Finally, I sure hope it's ready to go after this. I am ready to go on to phase 2!

Troy, I take it back. The two images did show up. The only challenge I have at this point is getting rid of the white space on the right side of the page.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve, You probably needed to refresh your browser to force it to display the most recent version of your page in order to get those images to show up after you made the suggested changes. Once your browser began displaying the current version of the page, the images should have then appeared. Regarding the white space on the right, I didn't see any at first until I noticed an empty ad block near the bottom of the right column. Is this what you are referring to? It appears to be a Google AdSense block. The best way to fix AdSense block code is to delete all of the malfunctioning code out of your web page's source code and replace it with fresh code from your AdSense account. I'm at work and just took a quick look at your source code and didn't test this, but I believe the following section of your code is what you need to delete and replace: <script type="text/javascript"><!-- google_ad_client = "pub-6254981679390240"; //120x600, created 11/30/07 google_ad_slot = "4004195322"; google_ad_width = 120; google_ad_height = 600; //--></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js"> </script><a name="Google_Ad_Sense"></a> As always, you should first make a backup copy of your web page before making any changes just in case things go awry. When you think your site is ready for Phase 2 approval, first be sure to read the Phase 1 Website Review Posting Guidelines in the sticky post at the top of the Phase 1 Website Review and Evaluation board, which can be found directly at this link: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=website&action=display&thread=1184774344Once you go through that checklist and ensure that all of the Phase 1 requirements are met, then you can post a review request in the Phase 1 Website Review and Evaluation board here: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=websiteHope this helps. Troy, I am sorry to say this, but I have four errors with unterminated string constants. I checked all the onmouseover and onmouseout codes, but am not finding anything. Any ideas?

Hi Steve, A string constant is basically a section of numbers or text, usually enclosed inside a pair of quotation marks. The word "unterminated" means that you are missing a closing quote. For example, the string "Hello" might look like this if it was unterminated: "Hello or 'HelloVisiting your home page and double-clicking on the yellow ! error indicator in the status bar at the bottom-left of Internet Explorer reveals that your errors occur on line numbers 209, 211, 219, and 227. This indicates that they are all relatively close together. I copied your page's source code into my editor and the line numbers matched up exactly with the locations of your errors. I think however that's because I use an editor (Expression Web, formerly Frontpage) that was created by the same company as the Internet Explorer browser (Microsoft), so the line numbers remain consistent. If the source code is copied into NVU or KompoZer, I find that the errors move into the 300s or so as far as the line numbers are concerned. This makes it more difficult to find the errors, but certainly not impossible. As I believe I mentioned earlier in this thread, another way to find mouseover code errors is to load up your site in Internet Explorer and mouse over all of the links and watch the status bar at the bottom. If there is no mouseover code present, the status bar shows the destination link while the mouse pointer is hovered over it, then goes blank again when the mouse pointer is moved away from the link. If there is functional mouseover code present, the text string defined by the mouseover code appears instead of the link while the pointer is hovered over the link, then it goes blank again when the mouse pointer is moved away from the link (at least with the mouseover code that we generally use). Now, there are two parts to the mouseover code...the onmouseover part that dictates what character string or words appear when the mouse pointer is hovered over the link it is applied to, and the onmouseout part that tells the browser to blank out the status bar again when the mouse pointer is moved away. There could be a problem with either section (or both). In this case, if you go to the More Opportunities section of your left column with the white background about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way down your page and mouse over the four blue Click Here links, the proper mouseover text string will appear when moused over, however when the mouse pointer is moved away, the text string doesn't disappear as it should, it stays until you mouse over something else. This indicates that the onmouseout part of your code isn't blanking out the status bar like it should be. It does this by giving a text string like this: "" or '' with two separate double quotes or two separate single quotes that have nothing in between them, indicating a null (or blank) string is to be displayed. While it is certainly possible for other parts of your code to cause browser errors, in this case it is still mouseover code issues that are causing the errors. In fact, it is the exact same error repeated four times, so I suspect that an initial error was copied and pasted into a few other nearby locations. This makes it easy to fix the error with a Find and Replace, or you can browse your source code and correct each instance manually if you wish. Find each instance of the following code: onmouseout='window.status="' and replace it with this code: onmouseout="window.status=''" That should correct your errors in this case. As to the difference between the two samples above, look closely at the quotation marks. Here is a quote from a post I made earlier in this thread (you can refer to the original post here): Usually these errors are caused by incorrect punctuation in your script code such as your bookmark code or your mouseover code. This is often the result of such things as missing or extra single quote ' and double quote " marks, although other syntax errors in your HTML could cause them. Such quotation marks need to be paired together in order to function properly. For example, if there is an opening single quote then there has to be a closing single quote soon thereafter...the same goes for double quotes. They have to be nested properly inside each other, for example " ' ' " or ' " " ' One common cause of these errors is putting apostrophes in your mouseover words, for example Mom's. The ' confuses the browser, which interprets it as a single quote. This often makes for an odd number of quotation marks, which is incorrect since quotation marks need to be paired, i.e. an opening quote and a closing quote. Remove any such apostrophes from words in your mouseover code and this should alleviate some of your errors. As mentioned in the middle paragraph in the above quote, you have to nest your single and double quotation marks like this: " ' ' " or this: ' " " '. The problem with the erroneous code given above is you have a single quote, then a double quote, then a single quote....you would need to add another double quote in the middle, or change the format to double-single-single-double quotes. I chose the latter approach just for consistency's sake because this is how the majority of your mouseover code is, but you could correct it either way. Troy

Troy, thank you very much, as always for your fantastic and detailed response, which is truly teaching me a lot of the art of being a webmaster. Well, I would not say I'm near that point yet.
Another question I have, looking down at the bottom of my page, where it says 'Top Online Profits Sponsor-Steve Borgman and the copyright 2007 Work at Home Group' I would like to get it to look like it does on your page, within the main frame, but I have not seemed to be able to get it to do that. I look forward to your feedback on this one.
Thanks so much.

Hi Steve,
The page you were viewing is actually a basic TOPS site...if you view your original TOPS page that you were provided with when you signed up as a Premium TOPS member then it should have the footer info in the same format.
I took a look at your code near the bottom and I think the following fix will work for you (at least it appeared to work for me when I tried it)...make sure to save a backup copy of your page first before attempting this however in case your tables get all thrown out of whack.
The original structure of the page was to have a maintable encompassing the entire page's contents, however you seem to have two maintable sections...the bulk of the page is one, but then it seems to end prematurely and the footer bar is in a separate maintable by itself, which is why it appears to be disjointed from the rest of your content. Try deleting the following section out of your source code:
</tr></tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"><!-- END OF RIGHT COLUMN ADS --><table style="width: 780px; text-align: left; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" class="maintable" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr>
Note that you can leave the comment section (the part between <!-- and -->) in if you wish, this just makes your source code more readable and has no effect on how your page is displayed. It is the other HTML tags on either side of the comment that we're more concerned with here. If you wish to retain the comment, just delete the rest of the code indicated above before and after the comment section.
Once the above section of code is removed, there is also a closing </div> tag that should be removed as well. Go to the very end of your source code and find the following section:
</div></body></html>
Delete the </div> part so that it reads:
</body></html>
Two other minor fixes should be done...search for the instances of 663px and 789px (there is only 1 instance of each) and change them both to 100%. These are the width of the bottom maintable cell containing the footer bar and the width of the internal table holding the footer bar's contents. You'll see both of these values in the same general area as the above-mentioned sections of code.
Please note that I messed with your code trying to figure out how to correct this issue between 4-5am my time, so try these fixes at your own risk...
Be sure to save a backup copy of your page first under another file name or folder before attempting this, just in case you have to revert back to a previously saved working version of your page. You should always make backups of your page in this manner first before making any edits just in case they are needed.
Also note that the code indicated above has to be edited *exactly* as specified...one more or one less character removed can potentially throw the entire page out of whack.

Troy, I hope this is not too much to ask, I am having a very difficult time with Ipower over the last couple of days , so that I am not able to upload any of the changes to my site. My username and password have not changed, but I am unable to get into my site. I have spent two days on hold for an hour at a time with IPower support, but am not having any luck. Is there a contact person at Ipower that can advocate for us? Thanks, as always.

You are welcome Steve, I hope that the fix I posted solves your issue. Regarding your other post, when it comes to hosting-related issues I'm afraid that there is no way around it, you pretty much have to contact the hosting company's support directly and keep after them. We don't have a single rep or point of contact with iPower, at least not that I am aware of, as is the case with our affiliate managers with other companies. Web hosting is a completely different animal altogether from the affiliate companies that we are partnered with...they are a different type of company so we have a different sort of relationship with them. .................... I am posting the following general information for everyone's benefit who reads this post, not just for your thread specifically... Web hosting is akin to a utility company providing electrical power or telephone service to our place of residence...in this case, they are like a landlord providing the home and facilities for our web sites and we are essentially renting or leasing these services from them. I have seen many people posting iPower-related issues here in the forum lately, but everyone needs to keep in mind that this is a TOPS/3PP support forum, not iPower support. We give support for the TOPS/3PP program itself and, to a limited extent, any related issues that we can provide advice or assistance with. Some things are beyond our control however, and web hosting is one of them. Any hosting service issues are between you and your hosting company, and you need to contact them directly for assistance. Sometimes people here can confirm whether they are also experiencing a particular issue and so forth, but that is about all we can do with regards to web hosting...the only ones who can really resolve hosting issues, problems understanding or using the vDeck control panel, etc. are the web hosting support personnel themselves who administer your hosting account. I agree that the hold times with iPower are longer now than they should be due to their current transition to their new vDeck 3 hosting platform, but hopefully this is a temporary situation that will improve once the transition is complete. In the meantime, all you can do is be patient and maybe work on something else while holding, and someone will eventually be with you. I had to wait well over an hour and a half on hold one time in order to speak to someone about an issue transferring a couple of domain names, but someone DID eventually come on the line and help me and I got the issue resolved. I've seen many people state that they'd hold for a while and then give up, but the only way to get through is to stay on the line until someone answers, otherwise you have to start the hold cycle all over again later. I do find that I can get someone on the line much faster late at night when most people are sleeping, but not everyone is a night hawk like I am In other words, calling at off-peak times if possible may yield a quicker response. I know there's nothing groundbreaking posted here, but I hope these tips help people in any case with getting their hosting issues resolved. Troy

Hi Troy
I appreciate your post and you make some very good points regarding Ipower. The biggest problem I have with them is their Customer Support is no longer what it was when we selected them as Tops preferred web hosting company. They had won numerous awards for their customer service and all the other services included with the Hosting Pkg was a notch above most of the others we had considered using. It is a darn shame how much a company can go down hill with the more business they get.
That is their problem in a nutshell... they have grown so much that they can no longer provide the support needed with all the extra business. We kept hoping they would hire additional staff and get back on track. However, that just hasn't happened.
Tom and I have had numerous discussions on this and we reached the conclusion that they must be downgraded to our secondary webhost provider.... and eventually replaced completely.
In other words we plan on making the change to BlueHost as our recommended web host provider ASAP.
We have already referred quite a few Tops affiliates to them over the last year and have not had one complaint.
Take Care
Erich
