This is long overdue... and is not totally related to the subject of this thread. But that is the primary focus.
Several of the postings here seem to focus on the road to salvation being through protestant faith.... in particular baptist which is what I am and how I was raised. I've also tried to raise my 6 kids that way but fear I haven't done such a great job. Even though I've taken them to Sunday school and church and sent them to private christian school [from middle thru high school] after I was able to afford it. I know I haven't set the good christian example for them to follow as I should have and that is my biggest regret at this point in my life.
That being said... there are some points I want to make here. First off. in the secular and diversional world we live in, it is increasingly more difficult to raise children as Christians... especially if they attend [mostly urban] public schools. Prayer has been removed from practically all public schools... if not all in the United States. Even if raised in private christian schools, most kids go on to college at state universities. That is... unless you're very wealthy. At that point many are taught by liberal professors and not only begin to question their faith and salvation, but completely stray away from it. And that is the main reasons this country and Europe has lost [or is losing] their place as leaders of the free world.
Another issue I want to make clear is there are many roads to salvation and people of all races, religions, countries, are going to a better place as long as they hear and believe in the gospel. Catholics believe in a place between earth and heaven and other religions believe in things like reincarnation. Jesus didn't specifically address these issues but that doesn't mean it's wrong or necessarily against what he taught.
All I know is there is only one man who has walked this earth without sin, performed miracles, and gave up his life in a horrible way so that our sins will be forgiven. No other religious leader or philosopher has that included in their "resume".
I know others believe differently and some even call Jesus's life on earth an embellished myth or fairy tale. And they are entitled to their ideology. They definitely have a lot to argue and new information to to claim they are right but are missing two things:
1. An experience of total submission to the holy spirit based on what the gospel of Christ taught.
2. Faith in God verses man.
There is a lot more I can say on this but I don't have all the answers as to why there is pain, suffering, wars.. etc and neither do scientists or anyone else.
God Bless!

PS: The educational system in the usa is broke and the best two avenues to fix this is to put the students interests above the teachers. Secondly, VOUCHERS! I'm proud to live in a state where they've taken the first step towards a fair and more equal system to educate out kids.
PSS: The information here are my own thoughts and beliefs and others are certainly entitled to reply and post their own.... both agreed or disagreed
