Hey -
When we check our OPT OUT report in SFI and one of our affiliates has opted out of the program - shouldn't we in turn go into GGS (if that is where we have our SFI Campaigns) and stop the mailings to them??!!

Robin,
You can do that, but it can become an adminstrative headache. It your autoreponder has an opt out link ket the do it. If you are using the Contact Manager, they will not receive messages. I do watch my bounce backs, and if the bounce backs shows an invalid email address I do remove them and notify SFI with a copy of the bounce back that "says the e-mail is not on record" or what ever.

Hi Robin,
I would remove them from any auto responder they may be in. In the opt-out report it states the following:
IMPORTANT! Do NOT contact these individuals. Soliciting these individuals after they have requested to be removed may be grounds for termination from SFI.

Michael - I have had some that when I email - it comes back as undeliverable so should I be contacting SFI on that? They certainly are not receiving any correspondence from me. Most say undeliverable on their emails in SFI (or they use to) - ??
Lori - that is what I thought - I am going to do my best to check the OPT OUT report daily and try to keep up with that. Personally, I know I would be annoyed if I thought I opted out and kept getting emails from this annoying lady (me). LOL.

Personally, I know I would be annoyed if I thought I opted out and kept getting emails from this annoying lady (me). LOL. Robin When I get a bounce back I determine if the e-mail account is 1) really an account: the bounce will tell you that... it will say something like no such account or that name not in our records, etc. These I delete and send a copy of the e-mail to SFI, I also add a note to let them know hey drop this person from my account and give my SFI ID2) failure Notice: usually these are due to mail boxes being full. (the person submitted his name and address to a source or sources that filled their e-mail box to quota. These I keep awhile, I will drop them if I continue to get bounce backs. If SFI is showing them as undeliverable, usually they will wash out when SFI updates the records. Also check these for people who are listed as "Opt-ed out" with SFI and you may want to remove them from a SFI training or as I said earlier just let them opt-out of your newsletter, training series or whatever. I did have one of my affiliates who had opted out, sign back up in December and is one of my EA's now. (that is the reason I do not generally remove them from my autoresponder... the link is there for them to do that.)All it take for someone to reactivate a membership is logging back into SFI and at some point going to their account info and hitting the update button.Michael

Thanks Michael - I do basically all you mentioned except for sending a copy to SFI. I understand the bounce back part and agree with you on the fact that they can sign up later. I do not automatically delete them either when I receive a bounce back - I try a few times separated by some time for each try. Although, I must admit that I don't spend tons of time trying to figure them out. More fish to fry out there Robin
