At one time SFI absolutely insisted that every time a new merchant was signed up, e-mail notices went out to all affiliates within 100 miles. I knew for a fact that was not happening because I never received notices for the merchants I signed up.
After a bit of arm-twisting on the d-board I finally got them to realize and then admit that in fact it had not been happening even though they had insisted - rather testily - that it was. But they assured everyone that it would happen from then on.
They were asked, as a gesture of good faith and as a courtesy to all the merchants who had been told it was going to happen, to resend all the notices to the local affiliates. They refused. when asked why, they deleted the entire thread on the d-board! (So don't go looking for it 'cuz it ain't there anymore. Don't look for me either, 'cuz I haven't been back since that happened.)
I just went in to the SFI site to see if I could do a search for local merchants. There used to be quite a few within 10 miles or so - which is another reason I know notices were not going out because I didn't get notified about them, either!. But I digress . . .
The search feature for San Diego California USA brings up - are you ready - 2 links for something called "Out of Africa." Now I suppose you could loosely say that was a match because I am certainly "out of Africa" but when I clicked on the links in the ads I arrived at a page that had ALL of the NOC offers. So I still really don't know if there are any local NOC merchants or not.
There are actually a lot of local mom-and-pop businesses around here who could potentially benefit from something like this, and there are currently 1725 affiliates within 25 miles.
If SFI sends out notices, then it would be worth talking to some of these mom-and-pop businesses, and maybe signing up a few. But if they still have to market the coupons themselves - or even worse if I have to do it then I really don't see any reason to promote the NOC offers at all, especially as local merchants can post coupons online that customers can print and use on demand.
SO, does anybody ever get these notifications? If you wanted to check to see if something you were in the market for was available through a NOC merchant, have you been able to check?
Inquiring minds want to know . .
