Hi,
Is it possible to add the e-mail notification feature to this forum? Or, am I just missing it?
I see I can bookmark threads, but sometimes it's handy to get notified via e-mail when a particular thread of interest gets updated.
Thanks, Mark

I agree I would like that too.
I don't see that option on this forum - If you find it please let me know

I too cannot find an email notification feature, however there seems to be a lot of features that are cool and useful in this forum. IE: Forum Jump menu at the bottom, Avitars and profile info at the side, the clean look and feel of the forum.
Erich will have a whole bunch of administration settings he can play with as the owner of the forum, so he may have something to switch on email notification? If not then I'm not too fussed. It's handy but not essential as I'm in here most days anyway, using my bookmarks to check Topics I'm following.
I also like the list of the last ten posts in the profile information. Quite handy if you have someone that makes a lot of sense. It's like a mini-book they've written

I actually figured out a way to receive email notifications a day or two ago, although it was a bit harder to find on here than it was on the Warriors Forum. The procedure I followed is below:
1. Click on "Profile" near the top of the main window to go into the screen where you edit your profile.
2. Click on the "Bookmarks" link near the top-right. This should take you to your page of bookmarks, if you have made any.
3. This next part is the key, and is the hardest part to find since the link text is a bit out of the way and is a dark blue (at least on my browser) so it is not easily noticeable. Way over to the right of the bookmarks heading should be a "Manage Bookmarks" link. Click that.
4. You should now be on the Manage Bookmarks page, which has a series of Notification drop-down boxes beside any existing bookmarks you may have where you can select "No Notification" (apparently the default), "Personal Message (PM)", or "Email". Select "Email" to receive an email notification when there is a new posting in the bookmarked topic.
5. In order to make it easier to receive email notifications for future bookmarked topics, go to the bottom of the page, where you should see a link that says, "By default, when you bookmark a thread, what type of notification would you like to receive when a new post is made in that thread?" There should be a drop-down box just below that similar to the ones mentioned above. Select "Email" here. In the future, all you have to do is bookmark a thread in order to receive email notifications for it.
6. Make sure you click the "Update Bookmarks and Preferences" button at the bottom to save your changes.
That's it! You should now be able to receive email notifications for bookmarked topics at the email address that you signed up to the forum with. Hope that helps.

Good job Troy!
I was going to ask the exact same question. That was one thing I did miss about the other forum. I never miss a thing that way.
Thanks!
Susan

Thank you very much for your generous "investigation" and posting on that feature. Not that you care... but I suspect your Karma will go UP for that helpful info...
I must ask everyone to be patient with me here... it has been 3-4 years since I've been invoved personally with a Forum. It will take me awhile to get the hang of things here. I will look into this function and turn it on if it can be.
Please continue to tell me what you need and want here and I will do everything I can...
Take Care
Erich

Hey Erich
Don't worry about it. With everyone figuring things out together, we will find it all.
The email notification was real easy to find once Troy explained it. The Karma also.
I think this forum is great. Alot of personal touches.

Hi Troy,
This made my day! I totally missed that Manage Bookmarks link when I was poking around and searching for the e-mail notification.
Thanks! Mark

Thanks everyone, glad I could help. Yes, that Manage Bookmarks link is pretty elusive...I had to hunt around a bit before I figured out how to turn the email notifications on. I guess if anyone asks elsewhere on the forum how to turn email notifications on we could just link them to this thread since it's all laid out step by step and nobody seems to have had any problems following it, despite the fact that I posted those steps at about 3am my time. lol Yes, the Karma thing isn't a big deal but it's still nice to see it go up, so click away! I Exalted a few points to other people myself since we seem to be making use of the feature. Credit where credit is due, right? Troy
