Hello,
Can anyone give me instructions to put the date on a webpage. I did it once before but have lost some vital elements. All I have left is a date.js page, I don't know where the rest of it went and now I can't find instructions anywhere.
Before I waste any more time searching through applets, can any kind person give me the info?

Hi Tom--
Thats another great tip, and much easier than writing a javascript, which is what I ended up doing to put a time and date display on my site.
The only problem I see with the SSI date_local (unless I am mistaken) is that the date and time of the server will be displayed on the web page. This could possibly be confusing to those viewing your web page because the time and date would be different than the viewers time and date depending on where they are located at.
The javascript pulls the date and time from the viewers computer, so it is more relevant.
Just something to think about.
Regards,

Hi Tom and Tom,
Thank you - you guys know so much!
I have now bookmarked the site with the SSI information.
The reason I wanted to find out about date display was so that I could have the month for "this month's special" and the year for the "top pick" change automatically - a site showing the wrong date does not inspire confidence that it will be up to date. It displays correctly, now I just have to sit here and wait for April to see whether it works. On second thoughts maybe I should do something more constructive.
If anyone is interested in having their monthly and annual picks (hey, if this works we can have "pick of the day"!) update automatically, all the information is at the SSI site recommended by Bricktown Tom.
To put inthe month you use:
<!--#config timefmt="%B" --><!--#echo var="DATE_LOCAL" -->
To put in the year (four digits) you use: <!--#config timefmt="%Y" --><!--#echo var="DATE_LOCAL" -->
If you change the "Y" to lower case in the above example you get the year displayed as two digits.

Agreed! That is a very good idea ... what a creative use of the technology we have before us. Thanks for sharing.
