I know that a bunch of people have posted about nonworking bookmarks. I have read every last reply and have tried everything, but for some reason it still won't work. Will someone please look at my bookmark in specific to see if there is something small that needs changing. I have deleted it and copy-pasted ones that have been listed in replies, but they still do not work. This is my last step before posting on the review. Thanx! mjmcintyre.com

I had major problems getting mine to work too. I have a code you can put in that worked for me. You won't get a button, it will just be a line of text that says "Click here to add the homepage to your favorites!" Make sure that you put your website address in it after the www. and change 'Website Title' to the actual title of your website. <a href="javascript:window.external.addFavorite('http://www.website.com','Website Title');"> Click here to add the homepage to your favorites!</a> Don't add target=_blank to it or it wont work! It took me forever to figure out that part Charlotte

Hi Mary Jo, I took a quick look at your bookmark code and I believe you just have to make two corrections to enable the original TOPS page bookmark function to work properly again. First, look for the following line of code inside your source code's <head> section: <!-- var urlAddress = http://www.mjmcintyre.com; Break this up over two lines, and also restore the global variable for it to work properly. In other words, replace the above line of code with the following two lines: <!-- var urlAddress = this.location; As noted in the source code comments a few lines above in your page, the global variable this.location will automatically detect the currently displayed page's URL (your home page URL) and enter that as the URL to be bookmarked. You *can* replace this with your URL if you like as you had previously done, however the URL would have to be enclosed in quotation marks " " in such a case. The global variable should not have any quotes however. I find that HTML editors such as NVU tend to reformat the source code without your knowledge and put two things on the same line when they really need to be on separate lines. For an explanation as to why the <!-- comment tag has to be on its own line by itself, see the following post: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=web&action=display&thread=1173753974&page=1#1173801583Second, a few lines later in your source code you have the following: window.external.addToFavorites(urlAddress,pageName); Replace this line with the following code: window.external.AddFavorite(urlAddress,pageName); This part of the script should also not have been changed from the original. Basically, if you replace the lines as indicated above to correct your bookmark code then your bookmark feature should work. Note that the basic TOPS site you were given when you signed up for a Premium TOPS membership has a functional bookmark in it, so if worse comes to worse you can take out your bookmark code and replace it with a copy of the bookmark code from the basic TOPS site. It is actually the same code, except the version in your current page got modified in a couple of places where it shouldn't have, causing it not to function properlry. You can alternatively use the code that Charlotte provided to make a text bookmark link. However, note that this code only works with Internet Explorer, whereas the code included in your web site now that originated from the basic TOPS site supports both Internet Explorer and Firefox, and perhaps other browsers as well.
