I could post a request for prayer on here every day, but I don't want to wear out my welcome. I thought this one merited special attention, though.
A lady in our church, Mrs. Baba (pronounced Bah-bah like in the black sheep) was told last night by her husband and mother-in-law that she would have to leave home if she continued to refuse to pray to the ancestors at the family alter, offer flowers and worship at the family grave, and participate in cleaning the community temple.
When she got home from work this evening, they didn't say anything, but she noticed that they had been to a lawyer to draw up divorce papers.
She has a fifteen year old daughter who is just struggling with assurance of salvation, and a 10yr old boy, both of whom she is expected to leave at home in this pagan environment.
Please pray that God will help her remain strong in her stand against idol worship, and use this incident to strengthen her daughter's faith as well as help her husband develop an interest in the gospel as he observes her commitment.

Deb,
This so much highlight the importance of your work as a missionary. You have my prayers and I will also pass this along to our prayer warriors at my church.

Deb,
How would we react? Tough question. We can talk of being a Christian, but how would we handle losing our family?
A group from our church spend a week in Japan last summer (I think I told you this) and the same thing happened to an elderly man.
Our group witnessed to him for over a week and he would not make a commitment because he would lose his family.
On their last day there, the man came to them with tears streaming down his face. He said he wanted Jesus. He knew this decision would cost him his earthly home and family. The man was over 70 years old! I can't image being put out on the street, especially at that age.
We have it so easy. Our Christian belief doesn't cost us much at all. But we need to remember people are suffering every day just because they have the courage to take a stand.
You are still in my prayers!
Dot

I have passed this on to my church body. Hank and Dot are right. This kind of event - and worse - happens over and over around the world every day. * We are far to complacent with our freedoms and we forget just how good we have it.
