My 18 year old daughter Laura has been sick for a long time now and we could not figure out what was wrong. She had been vomiting blood and had a white cell count that was too large.
We finally received word that she has a gall stone that is 1cm that is blocking her digestive system and she has a bleeding ulcer. She will have to have surgery to remove her gall bladder immediately because the stone is too large.
I don't know when the surgery will be, but I would ask for prayers that everything works out well. She is so young and she is really scared.

Hi, Cindi
Let me offer you a word of encouragement. One of my cousins had her gall bladder removed a few years ago. Believe it or not, unless the doctors anticipate complications, the operation is done as an out-patient procedure!
No matter what, I will pray for a speedy recovery for your daughter.

Cindi, your daughter is in my prayers also. Just so you know I had mine removed the same way 6 years ago, my daughter in law had it when she was 22, we are both fine.
I know it is scary whenever your child goes through something of this nature, but our prayers are with you and your family.

Hi Cindi,
I will be praying for your daughter as well. I had my gall bladder removed when I was 30 in 1989. It went very smoothly. Also, I sure that medical procedures have advanced quite a bit since 1989 when I had my surgery done. Your daughter will be fine.

Dear Cindi Sorry to hear that. I may be able to give some advice if you want ( I am a Dr working in Australia). I believe that this going to be a successful surgery. As your daughter is young chances of complications are less. All gall bladder stone does not need surgery. Now Laparoscopic surgery is available where you do not need to open the abdomen. It is done with few tiny holes in the abdomen. good luck sandy

Cindi…
I’m so sorry to hear your daughter needs to have surgery...it’s a scary thing to have happen to someone so young. I know what you are going thru…my little Anthony (to the left) had to have surgery when he was only 3 months old. My thoughts and prayers are with Laura and your family.

My daughter is having her surgery at 1:30 today. They are going to make 5 small incisions and try that first, but her gall bladder has hardened and they don't know if they will be able to get it out that way. She also wound up having 12 gall stones! The big one may have moved into a tube.
Anyway, we have snow and my husband is traveling home right now across state to be home in time for her surgery. Just keep us in your thoughts today.
Know one has to post to this because I know you all will be thinking of us.
Thanks everyone, Cindi

Hi Cindi,
I too had my golf ball sized gall stone removed with my gall bladder.......when my daughter was 6 weeks old. It went fine, and I have teeny scars that you have to look for to see. I also felt better right away after the operation. That alone outways any discomfort during recovery. Your daughter will be just fine. =) You are in my thoughts and prayers, let us know how she does.
Regards, Tammy

My daughter got through her surgery just fine. They will keep her overnight because she is in a lot of pain and they are pretty much keeping her asleep.
They did find that she also has two hernias, one on each side of her legs. She is very athletic so we will need to keep an eye on that; otherwise, she is in good health.
I have much to be thankful for this season and I just want you all to know how grateful I am to have you all as my "online" friends.

That is a wonderful blessing, Cindi. Thank you for sharing with us. I hope she recovers quickly.
I wish you and yours and everyone on this forum a Blessed Thanksgiving - even if you're not in the US. We all have much to be grateful for!
