You need to provide more details regarding exactly what you are doing and exactly what isn't working. I am moving your thread to our "website creation" NVU Board. Read all the info in that board and you will probably find what you are looking for... also once you provide more details, I'm sure one of our NVU experts can help you.

Hi Erin, Make sure you are publishing your site into the public_html folder on your web host. This is the home folder for your web site. Also I have noticed a few people mention that using the publishing feature in NVU caused a few things with their site to change and/or they had unpredictable results. It may be safer to use an alternate method to publish. Probably the most common method used by the members here is the File Manager feature inside iPower's vDeck control panel. You can find some detailed steps for File Manager here: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=p1&action=display&thread=1148930464You could also use an FTP client program to connect to ftp.yourdomain.com to upload your files to the public_html folder, or you could use another alternate method outlined in this thread that makes use of Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=nvu&action=display&thread=1162218818Hope this helps. If you still have problems please post more details as Erich mentioned, as it is difficult to provide specific help unless we know exactly what you are doing when you encounter the problem. Troy

Thank you Troy and Nancy for your help, but I need more. Perhaps I am just not understanding. I have read your instructions and I believe followed them to my best ability. I have transferred my files to vdeck. I am very confused. when I open my website file over on the vdeck file manager (I dont know how else to open it) I do not have my images that i created myself. only the already made banners from affilliate sites. I need help on where and how my files should be saved. I know this has been explained, but I am not understanding.
Also my page has been blown out of proportion, it is now too wide. What is the correct size? I feel the Tops template is too narrow, making the site too long so I went wider, but I dont know what the correct sizes should be.
I dont know what you need from me to be able to view my site, of course it is not published for you to see. Do you want my vdeck info???
Please help. Thank you. Erin

Erin, I do not use NVU but from what I have learned by reading, you need to transfer all of the images you have in NVU over to vdeck so they can show up. You will go into host manager, file manager, public_html and upload them into your images file there. The correct size is 800px. Once you load your site into vdeck it should be published. We need your url of your site, for example - mine is www.hazenathome.comYou can go into the profile tab of this forum (at the top) and enter your signature and url in the box provided and it will show up at the bottom of all of your posts so we can review when you need help. (that way you won't have to provide each time). Hope this all helps! Robin

Thanks for your response, Robin.
I followed what you requested, but unfortunately it did not make any change to my site. All the files are in the file manager under public_html.
Thanks you anyway.

Hi Erin, I recommend that you do not alter the width of the TOPS template, it is the correct size for this program and it is created this width for a reason. It may appear too narrow to you, but not everyone uses the same screen settings, and we are designing our sites for the "lowest common denominator" or lowest commonly used screen resolution, which is 800x600 pixels. If you make your site wider, it may look fine on your own resolution, however for those using 800x600 your site will be cut off on the right and they will miss many of your offers unless they happen to scroll sideways. Perhaps you use 1024x768 like many people, but not all do. Plus, there are many other screen settings available as well, so you have to keep this in mind when designing your site. Most people don't like scrolling sideways, so you will want to avoid this situation if possible. That is why we recommend having the width of your page around 760-800 pixels or so, which is what the TOPS site conforms to. In fact, if your site is much wider than this, Erich will ask you to reduce the width of your page and will not advance you to Phase 2 until you do so. As long as you keep the TOPS page's original width then you will be fine. Please note that any files you upload into the public_html folder inside File Manager are accessible online in any web browser via your domain name www.homebusiness-solutions.com/ so all you have to do is enter your domain name into your brower to view your home page that you uploaded, assuming that you placed it inside public_html and called it index.html. Your index.html web page file is considered your home page by the web server and displays automatically with just www.homebusiness-solutions.com/ specified in a browser, but if you make a page by any other name (such as a privacy policy page called privacy.html for example), then you would have to include that file name in your URL, for instance www.homebusiness-solutions.com/privacy.htmlErin, it sounds like you are having some difficulty with getting started...to this end, I suggest that you give Jim's brand new web site a test drive that he just announced today. It is basically a tutorial that explains in great detail how to get started with editing your TOPS site for the 3 Phase Profits program. Check out Jim's post here: :: TOPS Website Design Tutorials ::erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=web&action=display&thread=1172258485Hope this helps. Troy

Thank you for all the help, I was able to get my page up and running, but with several errors. I am working on repairing them now. Another question: I cannot get my "bookmark" button working, and I have searched for a topic on this with no luck. Does someone have the code for this?? I also cannot for the life of me get my google adsense to work. This is what I have for the code: pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js

Erin,
For google adsense code, you need to sign into Google and choose your ad and then copy the code they provide for you and paste it into your HTML. . In vdeck webbuilder, the google ads do not show up unless you go to preview or once you publish your site. Not sure about how NVU works.
As for the bookmark your site - here is a copy of what my HTML looks like - you would need to have your own info but maybe this will help!
<TABLE style="WIDTH: 300px; HEIGHT: 26px" borderColor=#663399 cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=1 align=center border=2 #cc99cc="" background-color=""> <TBODY> <TR> <TD style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: rgb(255,204,204)"> <P align=center><A onclick=addfavorites(); href="http://hazenathome.com/#" target=_blank return="" true="" onmouseout-?window.status="" site="" the="" bookmark="" mouseover="window.status=" on=""><STRONG><FONT color=#ff0066 size=4>Bookmark This Site</FONT></STRONG></A></P></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Keep up the hard work! Robin

;DHi Erin
Are you talking about the green border around your whole site? If so in NVU go to your source code and look under Main Table, the code should look like this:
/* MAIN TABLE - we will now apply a style to the table that will hold all of the content of your site to keep it neat and professional */ .maintable {border-color: #009900; border-style: double; border-width: medium; background-color: #FFFFFF;
The part I highlighted in red, can be changed to any color you want, that should take care of the green border.
Hope this helps.
Nancy

To whom it may concern, I don't know i this does anyone any good but I have cheated on alot of my site building. I love the feature in Nvu where you can look at other sites source codes. It sure helps me to understand and sometimes fix some of the mistakes I have made on my own site. Somehow I deleted my clock so I had to "borrow" the source code from another site and insert it back on mine. I live by the trial and error method that so many of you seem to use. Also, I have found that if I really mess something up I don't "save" it and start all over. Hope this helps.
