Hello... I've read Skyrockets tutorial and went through many, many posts on transferring banners from nvu to vdeck, but can't seem to find out what i'm doing wrong. I've transferred my webpage to vdeck from nvu to edit and publish. I've also transferred files from my image folder. But when I go to view my website, there are a few images that will not show up. The majority of the images were pulled straight from the affiliate webpage and i copy and pasted the html code and placed it in the source page of the website; those banners are showing up fine. But the few I saved to my computer in the images folder are not showing up. I've went into vdeck, host manager, file manager, public_html, and uploaded my webpage and my images one by one onto vdeck. I'm out of ideas and I've tried everything I can think of. Please help!!!

Hi aprmitchell, In addition to the above, you should also check out the following FAQ board post that sheds further light on the problems you're encountering: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=tool&action=display&thread=1143747000&page=1#1145778477I noticed that some of the images on your page that are not displaying are linked to a folder named "IMAGES". This does not exist on your iPower account. However, you do have a folder named "images" with a single image contained in it. This can be seen here: www.nomore9-5commute.com/images/ Your images should be placed inside this folder and linked to there. This is found under public_html/images in your vDeck's File Manager. Please note that file and folder names on web servers are generally case-sensitive, so it treats "IMAGES" and "images" as two different folders. You will need to make sure that your page's links and the actual file/folder names match exactly, including their case. See the above-mentioned post for more info. Also related to the above post are your Terms Of Use and Privacy Policy pages. They do work, but you've probably noticed that the links to each of those pages contain one or more sets of %20 characters in them. This is due to spaces in your file names, which should be avoided with Internet file and folder names whenever possible. I would simply call these pages terms.html and privacy.html or something similar and get rid of the spaces and/or %20 characters, but this is up to you. One other thing I noticed was that your Top Pick image is layered over top of some other text on your web page when viewing it in Internet Explorer. It looks fine in Firefox though. I highly recommend that you view your web page in at least those two browsers while you are working on it to ensure that it displays properly in multiple browsers. The more browsers that you check it in, the better of course, but those are the two most commonly used ones, so I would view your site from those two browsers at a minimum when testing it. The problem with the overlapping Top Pick image in IE is likely being caused by problems with your positioning code using <div> tags, and differences in the way that these two browsers interpret the code. Hope this helps. Troy

Thank you so much for your help! We figured out how to display all of the images and are still currently working on the top pick image overlay...but now we came across another problem. When we type in our domain to view our website, we get a "index of /" page that displays our files and directories and does not pull up the page. We tried to delete and upload our index.html file again, didn't work, permissions seem to be set okay. On this page, we can click the index.html file and it will pull up the page, but we cannot figure out why when we type in our website this page pulls up. This is what our page looks like:
Index of / Name Last modified Size Description
IMAGES/ 03-Aug-2007 11:33 - INDEX.html 04-Aug-2007 10:47 42K W@HD cool text.gif 28-Jul-2007 18:13 265K cgi-bin/ 01-Aug-2007 16:44 - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache Server at nomore9-5commute.com Port 80
Is there something we did in uploading to vdeck or changing our files that could have prompted this page? Is their anything we can do to fix this or should we contact ipower tech support? Thanks again for the help.

Hi, The only problem I see is that you saved your index file using uppercase letters, that is INDEX.html, it should be index.html, so you just need to rename it to index.html. Hope this helps. Vince

Vince is correct...as I explained in my post above, file and folder names are case-sensitive on the Internet. This means that the web server sees INDEX.html as a completely different file than index.html. You have to make it all lowercase letters for it to work properly.
Web servers are generally configured to search for an index page by default (index.html, index.htm, index.php, etc.) if no file name is specified at the end of the URL. If the file name of your home page is anything but index then the web server won't find this default page, and a directory listing or an error message will result.
The only way to display your current page properly is to include /INDEX.html at the end of your URL. As Vince said, you should rename your page to index.html so that it will display as your home page when just your domain name is entered as the URL.
The general rule of thumb for web site file and folder names on the Internet is to use all lowercase letters and no spaces...this will help to avoid issues such as this.
