I know I need to program directly into html - and I will - in my next life! It's just that Nvu is what I got used to in the beginning. There's so much involved in keeping up with all the opps that it's difficult to learn new tricks and keep up the momentum.
BUT - my nvu program is freaking out today! It's very slow, and continues to open new tabs while it's deciding what to do. Is anyone else experiencing this?

When it does that every time I do anything I try to save it, then go to the source page highlight and copy the whole page of code, and exit. It will ask me if I want to save (didn't I just do that?) and I say yes but it does not. Then I open NVU, open the page I was working on, go straight to the source code, highlight and paste. Don't preview - just save. So far that has always worked.
Do something else today. Work on your site tomorrow.

Some of you NVU users may wish to check out KompoZer. You can get it at: www.kompozer.net/KompoZer is basically a newer version of NVU with some bug fixes implemented and a new name, so it might potentially be more stable than NVU and some of NVU's quirks may be fixed in it. It may very well be worth looking at in any case. Troy

Hi Shawna I've used NVU all along too, but at one point when I was having many problems with it I switched to Kompozer. The result: still had same problems! Many in NVU's forum felt the same way. Anyway, I'm back with NVU until I find a better free editor. Maybe you will have better results with Kompozer. Good luck Michael J

Thanks for your feedback Michael. I haven't tried KompoZer myself as of yet, I just ran across it recently and felt it was worth mentioning. It reportedly fixes some of the bugs in NVU, although I'm sure it doesn't fix all of them. Shawna uses the Mac version rather than the PC version I think, so it's hard to say whether her experiences will be any different than yours...

Troy,
I'm testing KompoZer and so far am very happy with it. It's very similar to Nvu, but doesn't seem to freak out as often. Because it's so similar, there isn't a learning curve associated with using it. Until I have time to really practice my html skills, I will be using it. Thank you so much for telling me about it!

You're welcome Shawna, I'm glad it's working out pretty well for you. Hopefully you'll continue to have good luck with it.
