Hi. There are 2 parts to this question: 1. Is mouse over text a requirement for Phase 1, and 2. Is there a mouse over global command? If you select all and then right click the body tag at the bottom of the page then advanced properties, you are taken to the Advanced Property Editor. If you go to the Java script Events tab you can select "onmouseover". I imagine if you knew the code that could go here, you could do the global mouse over function ? Would anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Ross.

1) No, it is optional - but looks nice.
2) This is very much out of my element, but I don't think so, because you would want your onmouseovers to be unique to the linked text and to the ad.
Here is a generic code I copy and paste. Everywhere you see WHATEVER you fill in the specifics.
<a href="WHATEVER" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="window.status='WHATEVER'; return true;">
Your onmouseovers for SFI should be different from your onmouseovers for Ignotius which should be different from Survey Scout.
I guess what I am trying to get across is that there are no shortcuts to doing this.

Thanks Sandy. Yes, I was afraid of this. I didn't think there would be a shortcut. Thanks for your help, Ross.

Hi Ross, As Sandi indicated, the mouseover code is completely optional...it looks nice and is included on the basic TOPS site, but it is more trouble to create and maintain than it is worth for some people, especially when there are errors in the code and you are not familiar enough with the code to troubleshoot it. It also makes your web page file bigger as those extra bits of code repeated over many links can add up. Whether you include it or not is completely up to you. While it IS possible to set your mouseover code globally in one place, the drawback to this as Sandi also mentioned is that your mouseovers will all be the same. It looks nicer and more professional to have them customized to the context of each link. The mouseover code Sandi included with a sample hyperlink works fine for making text appear in the browser's status bar...if you also want the text to disappear when you move the mouse pointer away then you need to add an onmouseout with a null or blank text string to the end of this as well before the sample link code's closing > as follows: <a href=" YOUR LINK HERE" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="window.status=' TEXT TO BE DISPLAYED'; return true" onmouseout="window.status=''"> I'll also repeat the above code inside a forum "code" tag because the regular font makes the single and double quotes difficult to distinguish, especially at the end of the onmouseout section: <a href="YOUR LINK HERE" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="window.status='TEXT TO BE DISPLAYED'; return true" onmouseout="window.status=''"> The parts indicated in BOLD would have to be customized as needed. Note that the rel="nofollow" part is to prevent Google's (and perhaps other search engine's) bots from following and indexing the link or giving it any Google Pagerank value. You would not want to include this for links to other pages on your own site or to your link partners, but it is good to include the rel="nofollow" for your affiliate links to prevent the Pagerank value provided by your page to your "important" links from being diluted. My understanding of Pagerank is that there is a given amount assigned to a given page, and that it is spread among your various outgoing links. In other words, if you have a hundred affiliate link on your page as well then your link partners and internal pages are not going to receive very much Pagerank value if it is diluted among so many links. One's goal is generally to provide a valuable link to their own internal pages as well as their link partner's pages, not to increase the Pagerank of all of the affiliate programs' sites that they link to. But I digress... In any case, if you are interested I included an explanation of how the mouseover code basically works in a website help post I just made here: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=web&action=display&thread=1189563565&page=2#1199655334In a nutshell, it is up to the individual webmaster whether it is worth it to them to implement mouseover code...it is essentially eyecandy and is by no means a requirement for 3PP, it is completely optional.
