My latest upload of an updated NVU page to my website is missing a lot of banners. Below you will read a fix from Tom Marker as of today and I tried this to no avail. Also, I checked and rechecked my "target_blank sections and they are all there. If anyone has a different suggestion I sure would appreciate it. Thank you.
From Tom: As for why the images on your page are not showing up, that is because the source location your images have all been altered. For example, your header image location should be listed like this in your code:
<img style="border: 0px solid ; width: 765px; height: 119px;" src="images/wahd17.jpg" title="Work At Home Directory" alt="Work At Home Directory">
But instead your new file has it listed as such:
<img style="border: 0px solid ; width: 765px; height: 119px;" src="wahd17.jpg" title="Work At Home Directory" alt="Work At Home Directory">
Notice that the difference between these files are the location source, which is abbreviated as “src”. The correct location should be src="images/wahd17.jpg", but instead your new file has it listed as src="wahd17.jpg". This means that the HTML instruction has your browser looking for the file in your public_html directory instead of in the public_html/images directory. To correct this, you will need to add “images/” to the src so that the location is “images/wahd17.jpg”.
This is true of all of your images that are not showing up. I don’t know how all of your image locations where altered, but for some reason when you saved a copy of the new file, your image locations were changed. To fix your file you will need to go through all of the images that are not showing up and correct the src as described above.

Hi Tammy,
Tom is correct. You're not linking to your images correctly.
As an example, here's your current header section:
<!-- HEADER IMAGE - replace the image with your own --> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="3" align="center" valign="middle"> <a href="http://www.toponlineprofits.com/images/wahd17,jpg" target="_blank"> <img style="border: 0px solid ; width: 765px; height: 119px;" src="wahd17.jpg" title="Work At Home Directory" alt="Work At Home Directory"></a> <br> <img style="width: 339px; height: 34px;" src="title1a.gif" alt="Top Online Profits ~"> <img style="width: 335px; height: 34px;" src="title1b.gif" alt="The Best Internet Income Opportunities!"> <br> </td> </tr> <!-- END OF HEADER IMAGE -->
It Should be:
<!-- HEADER IMAGE - replace the image with your own --> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="3" align="center" valign="middle"> <img style="border: 0px solid ; width: 765px; height: 119px;" src="images/wahd17.jpg" title="Work At Home Directory" alt="Work At Home Directory"></a> <br> <img style="width: 339px; height: 34px;" src="images/title1a.gif" alt="Top Online Profits ~"> <img style="width: 335px; height: 34px;" src="images/title1b.gif" alt="The Best Internet Income Opportunities!"> <br> </td> </tr> <!-- END OF HEADER IMAGE -->

Hi Tammy, I fixed your page and uploaded it: www.nowlivelife.com/. Your page was more messed up than originally thought so I merged your last working index file into your new file using a software merge tool. For some reason all of your images were incorrect and the path was stripped out of all of the sources. For example the path src="images/wahd17.jpg" was changed to src="wahd17.jpg". Not only that, paths which had a web address were also altered... example: src="http://launch.roirocket.com/42/19169/19607" was changed to src="19607". I'm not sure how your file got messed up, but I suspect it may have to do with how it was edited and/or saved. Anyway, your page is back in order. Have a great weekend!

Ken and Tom!
Thank you both so much for your help. I know what happened to my banners, I think. Anyway, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your help. Tom, the last time I uploaded my page, I did it in FTP Commander and that seemed to work for me. I did not use Smart FTP, but since you said it is fixed, next time I update my page, I will try it.

Tom!
I need your help please. I added a small banner to my webpage and published it and my banners are missing again. I cannot seem to update anything without messing up my site. How I can manage to do that just by adding a banner is a wonder to me. Would you please go into my site and see if the path is stripped again? and would you fix it for me. I won't be trying to publish (upload) my site again for awhile, so I won't mess it up. How can this be happeining everytime I use FTP commander or Smart FTP? Thank you.

Hi Tammy,
The problem with your image links would not be caused by your FTP program or whatever method you use to transfer your files, it would be caused by your HTML editor. FTP simply transfers an existing file from point A to point B, it is the editor which actually modifies the contents of the files.
If you're using NVU or KompoZer, one tip is to make sure that the URL is relative to page location check box is enabled in the image or link properties page, otherwise NVU/KompoZer tends to make URLs with full paths pointing to files on your computer's hard drive, which won't work online. Make sure that this check box is enabled for each image or link on your page...it is in the properties page right below the box where the image or link URL goes.
Having URLs in your page that incorrectly link with full paths to files on your hard drive will often cause your page to appear to work fine on your computer, but then when it's uploaded to your web host and viewed there it may appear that the images are missing, especially when being viewed from any computer other than the one that the page was edited on.
I gave Tom a heads-up about your above post several hours ago, and he may very well have already fixed your current page or else will do so soon. I'm sure he'll be along to post here once he has a chance to do so. I know that he's very busy with work this summer and doesn't get on here as often as he would like.
Hope this helps.

Hi Tammy,
I cleaned up your site and everything is back in order.
The next time you want to make changes to your site, just make sure you are starting out with your current page by transferring the index file from your domain onto your computer before making edits to it. I suspect that you may still be making changes to an older file and uploading it because the image errors this time were exactly the same as the last time I fixed it. My last post gives details of this problem. Just start out with your new file and you should be fine.
Like Troy said, the problems with your page has nothing to do with the program you are using to transfer the file, but most likely with how you are editing and saving the file. FTP programs only transfers a file from point A to point B, they do not normally alter the contents of a file. Somewhere along the way the image locations in the file on your computer were altered, and this file is being transferred to your domain. Delete that file from your computer and transfer the new index file to your computer so that the next time you make edits to it you know you are starting out from a good file.

Troy and Tom,
Thank you. Tom, I brought up my webpage and the banners are still missing. What I would like and appreciate when you get time (no hurry) is for you to tell me exactly what you do when you do a fix so I can do it myself and I don't have to bother you anymore. Troy, I will go to my NVU page and check all of those boxes. Thank you.

Troy,
I went in to fix the url boxes and they won't let me check them. Now what in the world would cause that to happen? No wonder I cannot get them to show up. Thank you.

Troy,
That was somewhat helpful, but the boxes are still uncheckable even after saving the file again. I noticed that I do not have a src:image file in the first box where I need to check the url box. I have a link with a 'z' reference in the middle in order to bring up the image. This is what I get everytime I go to BizOpp or ROI for an image. Maybe that is my problem. Thank you though.

Hi Tammy,
I just tested the NVU help menu's instructions by creating a new document and adding an image to it. The "URL is relative to page location" check box was unavailable in the image properties at first, but then I saved the page as NVU's help indicated and the box then became available. I also noticed that toggling the check box changed the URL between a full path to a hard disk location for the image file and a much shorter relative path to the file. So, it seemed to work for me.
I'm not sure what your issue is or what the 'z' reference you mentioned is. If you're having problems with a particular image then maybe you can specify the ad or link you're having difficulty with and we can take a closer look at it.
Some sort of a reference to an image file needs to be present as the image's src or source in order for a web browser to know what to display as the image. It could be simply an image file name if it is stored in the same folder as the current web page, or it could be a longer URL. But, some sort of src (or 'image location' in NVU) has to be provided, otherwise the visitor's browser does not know what to display as the image.
One other thing I should note is that when linking to an outside site, the full URL to the file on that site is required and a relative URL is not an option in that case. Therefore, the "URL is relative to page location" option would not be available for such links, it is only for files stored on your own computer or web host. In other words, relative URLs only apply to files stored in the same location as the page currently being displayed.
In the case of BizOpp banners, I believe they may only work if you link to them on BizOpp's site as I have seen others mention having problems saving BizOpp banners to their own web host and linking to them there, so you may need to stick to full URLs for BizOpp banners. In such a case, the "URL is relative to page location" option would not be available since it is not possible to specify a relative URL for an image that is coming from an outside web host (BizOpp's).
