I am trying to upload a few images to iPower. Apparently, they do not allow bmp type images. How do I change a bmp image to one that is acceptable with iPower? Here is what I get: For security reasons, only files of type 'asp aspx bas cfm cgi css csv doc dwf gif gz htm html ico inc jpeg jpg js mdb pdf php php3 php4 php5 pl pm png ppt py shtm shtml sql swf tar txt wav wmv xls xml zip' can be uploaded Any suggestions? Thanks, Lori

Hi Lori, I would not use a .bmp image format if possible anyway on a web site because they tend to be rather large files. Other formats such as .jpg, .gif, and .png are compressed image formats and are much smaller, whereas .bmp format files are generally not compressed. The same image in .bmp format would often be many times the file size of the equivalent image in .jpg format. You might wish to try the following online tool for converting small images to alternate formats, or the downloadable tool from the same page for larger images: www.coolutils.com/Online-Image-Converter.phpMost any decent image editing software allows you to choose the output format to save the image in as well, so most any image editing software can be used to open a .bmp image and re-save it in a different format. Hope this helps. Troy P.S. I just realized that I had the following link saved to a prior post I made months ago containing a few other image optimization links and similar info that you might find helpful: erichw33.proboards53.com/index.cgi?board=web&action=display&thread=2500&page=1#19162

Thank you Troy. I will check it out. These are banners that I saved from different campaigns. They are small banners so I don't know why they would be a bmp file.
Thanks again, Lori

Strange...it looks like I got smited today for some reason, probably by accident lol, but you're welcome Lori.
I think I've noticed that BizOpp sometimes uses .bmp files for its banners, I'm not sure why... I would think it would be more beneficial for them to use .gif or .jpg files as banners.
Regardless, if I were storing such images on my own host and linking to them there, then I'd try converting them to a few other formats such as .gif, .jpg, or .png and use the one with the smallest file size for optimum load time, as long as the image quality is comparable and not degraded any.

I am pretty sure I hit the exalt button before Troy, but just in case, I exalted you again. I suppose that would bring you back to where you were though. Oh well, I'll exalt you again tomorrow. If someone did smite you, it had to be an error.

lol thanks guys...it doesn't matter really, I just noticed that it went down a notch from what it was the day before. I thought maybe one of the many spammers that we get was attempting to pay me back for deleting their junk posts ;D I often have to delete at least a few of them when I'm on here late at night.
I have to go back to work tomorrow (it's my first day back since my father's funeral, my next door neighbour's mother's funeral in the same week, and so forth), so as of tomorrow I won't be on here as frequently as I have been lately :-\
I used up almost half of my limited vacation time last week as most all workplaces don't provide enough compassion/bereavement days to take care of arrangements and attend the various visitations and services for one funeral, let alone two right back to back. I'll still check into the forum at least once or twice a day though whenever possible. Take care.
