Without going into too much detail, my little sister has been going through a very rough time. She's suffered from depression, anxiety, and has attempted suicide 2 times. She has struggled with prescription drug addiction also.
She detoxed from one medication last weekend, and she'd going through a very rough time, physically, mentally, & spiritually. She hasn't been able to sleep since detoxing on Friday, & feels crazy.
Last night she nearly died from a drug interaction & overdose which put her into a coma & caused heart arythmias. Thankfully God worked a miracle, and she's alive. But she is not doing well.
Please keep her in your prayers. Her name is Lori.
Thanks,
Julie

Hi-
My parents and I are going to try to get her to go to a rehab center to get help. She is continuing to use meds she's not supposed to take, and is not following dosage instructions. She called me tonight, totally unaware of how late it was...said she had 3 seizures today, took more wrong meds. I found a great facility.
Please pray that she will be willing to go and that she won't hate me forever for filling my parents in completely. I don't want her to not trust me...I'm the only one she really opens up to. But I don't want to lose her.
Thanks
Julie

You are doing the right thing Julie and I believe, in time, your sister will see that too.

Julie
Your sister is in my prayers. I can tell you from my own experience that it won't be an easy road back for her. Something many of my friends here don't know is that I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran. I was wounded by a grenade that blasted about 8' away from me. The shell fragments in my chest, buttocks, and both legs were a small part of my wounds. The real disabilty was diagnosed as PTSD which includes the same symptoms your sister has... anxiety, depression, substance abuse, anger, denial, delusions...etc.
The substance abuse is likely a symptom of some other deep seeded problem. In addition to spiritual help...she needs a good understanding professional therapist who will help her find the root cause of her problem. Then the healing will begin.
God Bless her!!

Thank you for your prayers.
She has found a great therapist and he works closely with a psychiatrist who specialized in what my sister is going through. This Dr has a very long waiting list for new patients, but my sister got in quickly due to a cancellation, and referral from her therapist. (plus I'm sure that God has his hand in this). Actually Erich, she was diagnosed with PTSD also. I truly think her healing is finally beginning.
There have been so many times that we could have lost her, but God is so amazing and she's still here. The night she was rushed to the hospital last week, her friend Michele decided to stay the night with Lori, and slept by her side. (this was not typical for her friend) She awoke in the midst of a coma, at the same time as her friend, and told her friend to call 911 because she was dying...then she instantly went back into the comatose state. At the same time, though I had no idea what was going on....I could not sleep for the life of me....so I prayed for my sister...this went on for quite a few hours...I finally fell asleep, then my son woke me up with growing pains....so I prayed more....finally fell asleep again...woken by a nightmare that felt evil (the devil actually through a black truck straight at me...strange dream for me)...so I could not sleep, and prayed against the enemy....fell asleep a few minutes, then my daughter woke me up with growing pains. I was frustrated, but did more praying that night than I can every remember. But God is good, and he knew she needed prayer! This is but one example of the ways I've seen God working through all the situations in my life. My complete trust is in Him.
Thank you all again!
Julie

Julie, I'm so sorry to hear about your little sister. It sounds like she is in the best hands and gratefully, you know who to trust. But it is so difficult.
Erich, I was sent a quote today: A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check; Payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.' That is Honor, and there are way too many people in THIS country who no longer understand it.'
Thank you for the sacrifice you made. I'm sorry for the pain you have had to endure.

Thanks for your kind and thoughtful words... I hope I didn't divert from the subject matter since Julie's sister is the focus here.

Be Strong! i believe your life has been made perfectly for the family you have now... If it wasn't you, who's gonna pray for your sister... Thank God she has a prayerful sister like you and a prayerful mom for your kids... I just hope everything will be fine as time goes by... Keep your faith i Him...
You might probably know this, but this song really works for me and i hope for you and your family too...
" God will make a way, Where there seems to be no way He works in ways we cannot see He will make a way for me He will be my guide Hold me closely to His side With love and strength for each new day He will make a way, He will make a way.
By a roadway in the wilderness, He'll lead me And rivers in the desert will I see Heaven and earth will fade But His Word will still remain He will do something new today.
God will make a way, Where there seems to be no way He works in ways we cannot see He will make a way for me He will be my guide Hold me closely to His side With love and strength for each new day He will make a way, He will make a way "

I hope and pray that your little sister is recovering and feeling stronger at this point in time. My heart goes out to you as well, for I think that you have displayed courage and compassion in a tough, painful situation.
