I have a question for you guys...although I have been an SFI affiliate for some time, I have never been an EA. Simply because I couldn't afford it everymonth, when I wasn't earning it.
I have earned money from them though through retail sales, but never enough for EA status.
Now I am being told that unless I am an EA I cannot earn money with SFI. That you have to be an EA in order to earn money. I sold last month very little...about $19.00 worth of retail sales. I received an email telling me I earned a commission. When I didn't see it on my commission report, I wrote and asked. They wrote me back and said the only way to earn money with SFI is if I was an EA. I have read all through their compensation plan and I can't find where this is mentioned.
I know they really want you to go EA and I know there are more advantages if you are an EA. But if what they say is true, how is this a free program?
Can someone explain this?

That seems to indicate you should have earned at least something from your sale.
I just checked my commissions and have not been paid since I dropped the EA status in October. Details as to why I dropped were posted here.
According to SFI's Compensation Plan page, you should have earned a commission on products sold, and I should have earned commissions on what my sponsored affiliates purchased.
H-m-m-m-m-m. Guess another e-mail to SFI is needed here.

Thank You Sandi, that is exactly what I thought also, so I asked them and this is the response I got: Thank you for contacting us.
Our program has always worked this way. There are two options for you to earn the SVP needed to become an EA. You can make a personal purchase. Which obviously costs money. Or you can refer retail customers who purchase the 10 SVP in product. This of course would not cost you anything. Therefore, participating in the program would be free to you.
You should take some time and review the new compensation plan information. It is possible to earn commissions as an affiliate from retail sales that you make.
If you have additional questions, please submit them at our Affiliate Support Line at www.sfisupportline.com
Thank you, NatalieIt doesn't make sense, if you sell something from your retail store you should get a commission. Why would they send me a notice of commission if I wasn't going to get a commission. I know how to become an EA! Keep me posted as to what you learn, I am really curious about this. Nancy I forgot I also received this email when I first asked: Thank you for contacting SFI.
You generated a sale, and the commission on the sale if it was retail sale is $19. You were not an EA so you did not earn commissions on this.
Thanks again, and if you have additional questions, please submit them at our Affiliate Support Line at www.sfisupportline.com

Hi Nancy, It looks to me like Nichole was way off base with her answer and Natalie sounds like she didn't understand your question at all. I think maybe Gery should go over the comp plan with support. From the outside looking in, this is my best guess... First... If you didn't know, we are under a different comp plan starting in January. So, December would have been figured differently than the comp plan currently posted on SFI's site. In both cases... you SHOULD be paid for a RETAIL sale even as a non-EA. (A retail sale as defined by SFI is a sale made to someone who is NOT an SFI affiliate.) Under the December plan... you were NOT paid for sales to your personally sponsored affiliates if you were not an EA. Under the NEW plan... You SHOULD be paid for sales to your personally sponsored affiliates even if you are NOT an EA. Now, my guess is that the sale was to one of your affiliates and not actually what SFI considers a retail sale. Likely an IAHBE membership based on the $19.00 commission. If this is the case and they renew in January, because of the change in the comp plan... you WILL earn a commission of about $2.85, whereas in December you would not have. You might want to check this by looking in your genealogy... Format: Sales Activity Sort: Prev SVP dsc If this doesn't help any... Ask support again plain and simple "Was it a RETAIL sale or wasn't it?" Thanks, Tim p.s. I poked a little fun at support, but for the most part they do a very good job. It's got to be very frustrating and a job I would NOT want to deal with.

Thank you Tim, That is exactly what it was...a retail sale to one of my affiliates. Why didn't they just say that when they sent the notice of a commission it would have been less frustrating! The other times I got paid were for retail sales to regular customers. I now have 2 EA's out of 169 affiliates so if they continue to be EA, which I am going to encourage, then through the new plan I will get paid a small commission each month? If that is the case then I might upgrade and continue to promote. I like SFI and like you I would not want to be in support for anything. Been there done that...Customer Service of any kind is not a fun job. Thanks again Tim it was a big help. Nancy

I will Michael,
I have another inquiry into them now as to the nature of the sale. I noticed last night after writing the reply here that it was only giving me stats for January not December.
I am going back in today and playing around with it to see if I can get those numbers again. It has to be there somewhere. I will fnd it.
