Hello everybody,
This is my first post here in a long time, and it's good to be back.
Things are tough for many people at the moment due to the recession. For anyone who is finding it hard to pay for online advertising, I just wanted to say that article marketing does work. From personal expereince I would say it is the best form of free website promotion you can find online.
Like most people I was promoting my website using a combination of all the forms of advertising Erich taught us (including writing articles of course).
In January 2008 I was due to go on a long trip and internet access would be difficult, so I stopped all my paid advertising.
Disaster then struck: in January 2008 my husband died suddenly, in March 2008 I had a major health scare (thankfully turned out to be nothing much), in May 2008 my mother unexpectedly passed away.
Obviously I had a lot to deal with, so I didn't do any work on my internet business. One quirky long-term side effect of shock and stress was that my ability to concentrate vanished. For just over 18 months I did no work on my business - no writing, no website updates, no PPC, absolutely zero. I lost a couple of domains because I did not renew them but, fortunately, most things (including my main work at home website) were on autopay, so the damage was not as bad as it might have been.
Guess what happened to my website traffic? - The answer is that it steadily increased. The viral spread of my articles kept my business afloat while I didn't lift a finger. My profits were slightly down but considering I was doing no work and my website had links to a lot of defunct programs, I consider myself lucky to have been earning anything at all.
If anyone is in doubt about spending time writing and submitting articles, it is most definitely worthwhile.

Elaine, I am SO glad to see you are back and coping as well as can be expected with such a difficult time in your life. I've been kicking myself in the butt for not contacting you just to offer a word of encouragement and prayer.
Thanks for the info on article marketing. I've been doing some, but do need to do more. I will definitely get right on it!
Welcome back - we've missed you!

Hi Elaine
Obviously your friends at the forum are happy to hear from you. You have had some difficult times and it's good to see you overcome your hardships.
Even though you aren't getting rich... You are definitely one of our success stories. Like everyone else, your income has developed as a result of hard work over a period of time.
We never know when the algos will catch up with us and give us the rewards... but i like to think it comes in God's time... not ours.
I absolutely agree with you regarding article writing and adding unique content [people can use] on your website.
Take Care
Erich
PS: Thanks for updating the WAHD link on your website!!

Welcome back Elaine, it's great to see you here again! 2008 was a bad year for me too as I also lost two family members close together later in the year so I know what you mean about not having the focus you once did and having your priorities elsewhere. I was sorry to hear about the sudden death of your husband early last year and have often wondered how you were doing and was rather worried since we never heard from you in so long. I'm glad to see you are back now and are doing okay, all things considered. Thanks for sharing your experiences with article marketing, it really proves how sound of an advertising strategy it is when you can have your site run on autopilot for so long and yet the traffic to it steadily increases rather than decreases. And on top of all that, it's a free advertising method as well, which is the icing on the cake. We're glad to have you back Elaine, I hope things are on the upswing now for both of us. Take care. Troy

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the welcome back messages.
I'm working hard to catch up - currently doing the write a hundred articles in a hundred days challenge at Ezine Articles.com. I started very late, so not sure if I'll make it, but having a goal like that is great for concentrating the mind.
