I'm looking for pictures/stockphotos to use for illustration on a website. There are many out there but the prices are a bit too high. The lowest I've found so far was at $49, 5 downloads a day for a year. I don't want to pay more than $20
Any ideas?, I a bit tired of looking. Some one suggested Flickr but the problem with it is the photos there are mostly personal.

Hi Benjamin
I'm not sure what you mean by pictures/stockphotos but have you searched google images? That's where I normally look for images, banners, and photos, unavailable from the company I working for...

I mean photographs taken to illustrate a point, an idea, or a concept like the way Yahoo does on many articles that are not news.
They are usually staged, or involve models posing in a way that means something to the viewer. I found recently that they are called stock photos. I need them for illustration in articles, mainly the point of the headline.
I used to just copy images from a Google search but heard that some one may claim copywright, and I never found the right way of getting to use those images. But I think that would take long so getting stock photos may be faster.
By Google images do you mean searching for images, or is it a tool like Google Maps, Google Adwords

By Google images do you mean searching for images, or is it a tool like Google Maps, Google Adwords It sounds like what your looking for could come from professional service tailored to your individual needs. But then you could find something close by using the keyword and search on google images. If you don't find what you want use different keywords. I don't think the developers go around looking for people who've copied an image and you rename it as you save it anyway... with a right click which will send it to what ever file on your PC your choose. I have "picture" files on mine and then I simply login to my hosting acct and upload it to my host file directory. My hosting acct has a "upload" button with a browse window and it automatically takes me to my Pictures and I click on the one I want and it automatically transfers it to my host directory with whatever I named it with jpg or gif and occasionally png. I've used many over the yrs and never had a problem with whoever designed or took the pic/image/banner.

Hi Benjamin, If you haven't seen this site already and are looking for stock photos, this may be worth a look: www.istockphoto.com/This site appears to work on a credit system where you buy credits and use so many for a given stock photo. I haven't investigated the details on pricing and so forth in great detail, but it may be a reasonable alternative to some others you have looked at, and there appear to be a few free photos available as well. If they're updated frequently one could even collect those and save up a collection for future use. Credit goes to Skyrocket Jim for posting this link way back in Nov 2006, who said he used them a lot for his graphics design work. I just happen to be enough of a packrat to have things like this saved from helpful posts that far back Free of course is the way to go if you can find free sources suitable for what you want, but that site may be worth a look in any case. The Google Images that I believe Erich was referring to is the image search feature on the Google site. If you go to www.google.com there is an Images link along the top of the page, which takes you to their images search engine. Here is the direct link: www.google.com/imghpThat simply turns up images based on keywords that you search, rather than full web page results. The images of course come from web pages though and each result you click on gives you links to the full size image and the originating web page. It is good to keep in mind that some images may be original works or had been paid for and are considered copyrighted by the owners of the sites that they come from, and if you want to feel 100% safe then it is a good idea to ask the originating website owner for permission to use their image before doing so. I agree with Erich though that the likelihood of anyone noticing and having an issue with you using a particular image on your site that you found via a random Internet search like that is pretty unlikely. Hi there,
If you dont want to pay for images the best thing to do is go to google and type "public domain images" these are free images that you can use. Ive actually found quite a few good images that are more than sufficient for my sites.
