Hello, I'm new here and I am wondering how exactly this works. I am reading the TOPS site, but I'm interested in an average timeline of how it goes... i.e. how long between the time I would invest my money and the time I start making money.
A little about me - I am a disabled person from Ontario, Canada, who has had a difficult time finding a "real job" and have plenty of time to devote to this project. I don't know a lot about creating websites and some of the technical jargon has me a bit confused. I am willing to learn, I just need some help and an assurance that any money I put into it isn't going to disappear, as my credit card bill is already rather high. I would love to earn enough to at least pay off that bill (approx. $2,500) and am curious if that's a realistic goal.

Welcome. Unfortunately, we cannot give you timeline. Everyone is different and will have a different rate of success.
You don't have to know how to create a website to get started. I myself knew nothing about it what so ever when I started. Thanks to the wonderful people here and a HTML editor, like NVU, I was able to succeed.
What you need is the determination and desire to succeed. This program has been proven successful over and over again.

Yes, your goal is more than reasonable as long as you have the patience and determination to achieve it. As Lori has said, I don't know if there really is an average timeline from start to profitability as everyone is different, plus it is not really possible to give an estimate of how long it would take for you without knowing your background, level of determination, amount of time you will be dedicating to TOPS and how persistently you will do so, etc.
The closest thing to an average timeline I can say is that some people fly through in a matter of a few weeks, while others take several months...it varies widely from person to person.
You did indicate however that you have lots of time available, so that is a big plus for you...this would enable you to complete the optional 3 Phase Profits training (should you choose this highly recommended path and build a more extensive, more profitable web site) in a relatively short period of time.
Many here have full-time jobs, family obligations, etc. so their time available to work on their sites is much more limited, which means it takes them longer to complete the work required. The amount of time it takes is really not important though....what is important is that you stick with it and not give up until you achieve your goals.
As Lori indicated, most people came here with little or no prior knowledge about web site creation or online marketing...these are skills that you learn as you progress through the TOPS training.
To get started, you would need to join TOPS as a Premium member, and if you wish to follow the recommended path and take on the optional 3 Phase Profits training that is available to Premium TOPS members, you would then need to get an iPower web hosting account and your own domain name.
The Premium TOPS membership and the iPower web hosting account are the only investments you really need to make until you reach Phase 3, which is the advertising phase of the 3PP program.
It should be noted that the only way you would lose your investments into TOPS and your web hosting account is to give up prematurely. If you stick with it by completing the 3PP training and following the directions to the letter then it is virtually impossible not to succeed.
