Here is the TRUTH as we Missionary Baptists believe. We use the King James Bible and believe and interpret the Bible literally as it is written... The most important question we must answer in this world is.... Am I Saved and going to Heaven when I die? Here is what Elder James Keen says on this subject... "Have you been saved?" Many times, Christians ask others this question, but what does it really mean? How do I know if I have been saved? These are questions every man and woman should ask themselves at some point in their life. What is Salvation? From a Christian point of view, salvation is the rescuing of one's soul from the eternal punishment of hell. The punishment is the result of our sin. Salvation from punishment is made possible through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Not everyone is saved. In fact, the bible says that, "strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." (Matthew 7:14). Are you one of the few? Have I met God's qualifications? The Bible teaches us that there are four qualifications that have to be met for someone to be saved. We must have a knowledge of the gospel message, the Holy Spirit must convict us of our sin and draw us to God, we must repent of our sin, and we must believe in Jesus with all of our heart. Let's discuss these four requirements in some more detail: Do you understand the gospel? It is impossible to receive something that you have never been offered. The same is true of salvation. Romans 10:13-14 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? …" The word gospel literally means, "good news". It is the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came to make a way for man to have a relationship with God and to be saved from eternal punishment. He took our place and died the death that we should have died so that we can inherit eternal life. Have you heard and understood this message? Have you been convicted? We aren't speaking of a federal crime. We are talking about the convicting work of the Holy Spirit. This work of conviction accomplishes two tasks in us. First, conviction allows us to see our need for salvation and feel the shame of our sinfulness. King David recounts deep spiritual trouble brought about by the Lord as he was searching for salvation (Psalm 116). In addition, conviction draws us to God. Jesus said, "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: …" (John 6:44). The Holy Spirit doesn't just leave us with a terrible feeling of emptiness; it also leads us to the solution to our problems, Jesus Christ. We don't come to Christ of our own accord; we are drawn to Him in a way that we can feel. Have you repented of your sin?Repentance involves realizing the error of a situation and turning away from it towards a better situation. That is what we must do to be saved. God convinces us of the sinfulness of our lives through His work of conviction (John 16:7-9). The apostle Paul wrote, "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." (II Corinthians 7:10). What this means is that the sense of sorrow for our sin, which God gives us, leads us to repentance. True repentance involves turning away from your sins and turning to God with all of your heart. Have you believed in Christ?Christ is the source of salvation. In fact, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6). This belief in Christ is more than a factual knowledge of who He is, it is the belief that He is who He said He is, the Son of God, and that He can save you (Acts 8:34-37). The faith (belief) that saves is one that is of the whole heart. Only God can see our hearts (1 Samuel 16:7) and only God knows if we have truly believed with our whole heart. The Reality of an ExperienceScriptures teach us that there are some who believe they are saved but are really just fooling themselves. Jesus said that in the day of judgment, many people will say, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?" However, Jesus will say to them, "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (Matthew 7:22-23) How do you know if you have really met God's conditions for salvation? How can you have assurance you won't be turned away at the Judgment? You must first understand that there is no gradual process of salvation. You either are saved or you are not. Because God uses His Spirit to draw us to salvation through a deep sense of need and conviction over our sins, we can know the moment when we are saved because of the peace that replaces this emptiness and void in our heart. Romans 5:1 says, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" Everyone who is truly saved has a moment in their life when they truly repented of their sins and believed in Jesus through the drawing of the Spirit. They also have the momentary experience of grace where God took away that burden, forgave you of your sins, and placed the Holy Spirit within you. Perhaps you didn't recognize what had actually happened to you at that time. However, based on what you now know, do you have that experience? Salvation produces more than a one time experience, though, it results in a total change of your life. Was there a Change? When someone is saved, they become a new creature in Christ. 2 Corinithians 5:17 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." What has changed? Everything! That same Holy Spirit which was convicting us now dwells within us and leads us. It is a discernable voice that provides direction (Acts 16:7), magnifies Christ (John 16:13-14), and will always fall in line with the Bible (I John 4:1). Also, we have a desire and the ability to please God through good works. In fact, that is why God saved us, to do good works (Ephesians 2:10). SummaryTrue salvation is more than a mental decision, repeating a prayer, or a progressive work. It's also more than an emotional experience. It is the divine intrusion of the human nature by something much greater than itself. It is something too significant not to be noticed. It is a total change that will affect your entire life, both now and in eternity. Now ask yourself this question, "Am I Saved?" If not, it is God's will that you turn to Him right now in repentance and faith. Seek Him until you find Him. www.pastortim.org/

Erich, I see you don't have many replies to your question. My answer is YES. I was saved when I was 14, in Missouri, at a little independent Baptist church. My life has not always been totally dedicated to telling the world about Jesus Christ, but, now, in my senior years, there is nothing more important than doing that. In fact, I felt led by the Lord to start a blog to tell others about Jesus. I started it and have shamefully neglected it for the last few months. I plan to get back with it soon. You can find it at whatdidjesussay.blogspot.comThank you for posting this topic. Even though there have not been any responses, you have let this community know the TRUTH. Jim

Jim Hi Jim I finally got a response here... You and I are definitely in agreement on this issue. Your experience is pretty typical of a conservative rural church upbringing. My mothers family comes from the same type background in Kentucky. I had a lot of exposure to the same as I was growing up. Although I raised up in an urban area and went to college in southern cailfornia, I still have held on to the bible teachings I learned as a child and young adult. I have drifted away at times in my life but always look to the Lord in times of trouble and am thankful in the good times. I can go back to a time and place in my bedroom when I was 21 yrs old. For me it was a matter of letting go of everything this old world has to offer and meaning it with all my heart. That is when I came to know Him. Many believe this isn't a good place to have a Board like this but we'll have it here any way just for those who do want it... I must admit I do try to keep my business and spirirtual life separated simply because witnessing in a business environment can be misinterpreted and sometimes even a hindrence to the gospel.. Anyway, for some reason I'm not surprised that you happen to respond here... God Bless! Erich

Erich, I am new here just getting ready for phase 2 with my web site, but it is always a good feeling to know that the leaders of any organization are Christians and Love the Lord Jesus. I do mix my spiritual life with my business work and have every since I was saved some 42 years ago. Jesus has the answer to so many of todays life problems and we are so geared to turn to others for those answers, to no avail. I have served the Lord faithfully for 42 years and He has helped me many times through His Spirit in guidance and instruction, just like meeting you for instance. That was the hand of God. He has helped me to become debt free, have freedom to work for Him in the Church and Community and to teach others to know Him in a personal way. He is so great. Yes I am saved. When you look at the word salvation you will find it is more than just the saving of the soul. It is everything we need at anytime we need it. God Bless You. Fonda

Fonda Hi Fonda I remember you joining and having some communication with you. I'm glad you take comfort in knowing I am a Christian... that is the good side. However, it can be a double edged sword for me.... as the leader of this organization, I must be very careful how I present myself to the general public. Unfortunately our industry has a bad reputation and perception is very important. Many non-believers just take a quick look at the surface of Tops and some of the programs we offer and perceive them as a Scam without doing a complete investigation. If these people see that I am a Christian and offering 'scams" [in their minds] it can reinforce any negative preconceived ideas they have about Christianity. I can handle them thinking Tops is a scam but I can't allow myself to be associated with presenting Christ as a fraud. There are also some deceivers out there who actually present themselves as having a "Christian Business" in order to draw believers into their financial schemes. If people dig deep enough they will see who I am but I do not broadcast in my advertising or on the front pages of my websites. I am happy to have you on board! God belss you! Erich

I AM SAVED!! I grew up on a small farm in northern Indiana and we went to a Methodist church in town. Later, in my teenage years, we switched to the local First Christian Church and that is where I was Baptized and Confirmed at the age of 16. During my 4 years in the Marine Corps, I drew upon the strength of the Lord many times for his forgiveness and He ALWAYS forgave! My wife and I and our 2 teenagers now are members of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in our local town. We have both held seats on the board of Elders and remain active in the Church. I can't imagine my 20+ years in business with having God in the center of our lives.
God Bless!!

Erich, thanks for this thread. I don't think I have been saved, but I am very much a Christan. Too many things in my life has happened that I have no doubt God is watching over me. There has been Times when I did not see anyway out and right at the last minute something always popped up just in time to save me from one problem or another. I know it my heart it was not just by chance. Just 2 years ago I had a heart procedure done and they found I had a artery that was 99% blocked, that was the bad news. The good news is, my heart grew two brand new arteries and performed it's own bypass. The doctor even said it is very rare. My entire life things have happened to me that way. Including finding you and this business. I had no Idea how I was going to retire and now I think I have a way. I am thrilled the leader of this business is a strong believer in God. I am proud to be part of this business and this forum, God bless you all. Larry Post edited for an easier read: One long paragraph. Hard on the eyes:Tal

Larry, Just a word review the post I did on FAITH and ask the Lord to speak clearly to you through the Holy Spirit about your relationship with Him as Savior and Lord. The above statement is a contradiction one has to be saved to be a Christian. That is a follower or disciple of Jesus, which means they have accepted His Grace and gift of Salvation. Like I said read over Erich's Post and the one on FAITH and feel free to contact either myself or Erich if you have questions. Michael p.s. From what you have posted above I would say the Lord is awaiting you to accept His free gift.

Larry,
I agree with Michael. One cannot be a Christian and not be saved. Erich's original post describes exactly what it takes to be saved and become a follower of Jesus Christ, a Christian.
If you truly have repented and asked God to forgive you, and believe that Jesus died for you on the cross, then you are a Christian. I will pray that you will find the answer and can know for sure. The Bible tells us, in Romans 8:16, that the Spirit of God will bear witness with our spirit so that we will know we are children of God.
God Bless

There is a difference between truely beliving Jesus died for your sins and then was raised from the dead and making a mental decision that you are a Christian. I'm not saying you are or are not saved by the grace of God because I could never know that. Only you can. Missionary Baptists and all other truely "born again" Christians believe that when you are saved you can always go back to that time and place where it happened ... because later on satan will try to convince you that noting happened to you and there is no true son of God. Even satan believes in God and Jesus but he will try to make you feel and think there is nothing too salvation and the only things you can believe in is what you can see and touch... in other words... "worldly things"... We are lving in a time when man has accomplished many amazing things and it is not easy to believe in a power greater than man and science... but the truth is that nothing can exist or happen without God allowing it... including man's free will to determine which path to follow. You will feel the "Holy Spirt" working within you after you have been saved and that power will grow stronger the closer you stay to the Lord. Two books which have helped me in my Christian life are: "Bread For Believers" and "The Power of Positive Thinking" Both of these will help you in your personal and business life... I highly recommed them. You can get them used online at Amazon for less than $5.00 each... God Bless! Erich

"THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING" is an excellent book. I have read it more than once and it sits on my nightstand and never leaves it. When needed, I pull it out and read parts over and over. I actually just started it over again from the beginning the other night as I haven't read it all the way through in awhile. It keeps me grounded!
I highly recommend this book - but don't just read it - go slowly - read a paragraph and really apply the principles - which just like our business, takes effort on our part!
Through Christ all things are possible, Robin

Larry,
I believe you are almost there also. I have told many people this, If you have to ask someone if you are saved or not then you are probably not. The Spirit of God deals with the heart of man, and it is from the heart that a man knows if he is saved or not. Ask yourself this question: If I died right now would I go to Heaven? If the answer is, No, or, I don't know for sure, then all you have to do is say this prayer from you heart and mean it.
"Lord Jesus come into my heart and life and forgive me of my sin. I believe you are the Son of God, that you died for my sin, and that you were raised again and now live. I believe because I ask you to forgive me, that you have, and I accept that forgiveness right now in Jesus Name. Amen".
Then Thank Him for that forgiveness and read Romans 10:9 & 10 as soon as you can. That's it. And I guarantee you will know from now on.
Then don't let anyone talk you out of it ever and hold true to His word and serve Him with all that you have. The rewards are great on this earth and in the life to come.
I hope I helped a little. Concerned, Fonda

Hi Erich, I'm in phase 1, struggling to get to phase 2, but I wanted you to know that I take comfort in the fact that you are a Christian also. I am a Christian. I was raised mostly in KY in a Southern Baptist church. My mother passed away on Oct 4 and it really made me start to think about life and where mine was heading. With war and the cruel things we see every day in the world, it's easy to become synical and angry. Anyway, I am praying again and working on my relationship with God. Bless you all. Bev

Bev Hi Bev We are of course always happy to have brothers and sisters in Christ in our program. I am sorry to hear about your mother. The loss of a close family member really does have an impact on our lives. It can result in the examination of what we are really here for... and what our priorities should be. This life goes so quickly and we must prepare ourselves for when our time comes to leave this world. I thank the Lord that we have Him to rely on and take comfort in His promise for eternal life after death. I hope you do well with the Tops program and grow ever closer to the Holy Spirit each day of your life. God Bless You! Erich PS: Stay close to our Forum for help getting thru Phase One...

Erich, it's encouraging to see you taking leadership with providing your testimony. As a fellow believer, I sometimes struggle with my desire to accomplish financial independence, wondering if I am trying to serve both God and money. What has been your perspective on this?

As a fellow believer, I sometimes struggle with my desire to accomplish financial independence, wondering if I am trying to serve both God and money. What has been your perspective on this? Steve Steve, Michael here, Erich will post I am sure, but I would like to share my thoughts on this. I have served the past 20 years as a staff person with various churches. God called called me to do this in my mid-30's. I spent the first part of my life in business, both self-employed and in the corporate world. That said, and more to your question, "can we serve both God and Money, the answer lies in the heart, can the person place God before money?! Will the person use the money or power, or wealth, to give God the glory? Not many churches can survive without godly people who see their financial blessings, as belonging to God, and support the church financially through their tithes, and financial gifts. If you are blessed financially with TOP's or with your regular work.... I believe the answer comes back to how do you use it in honoring God, and keeping Him in the highest priority. Michael

As a fellow believer, I sometimes struggle with my desire to accomplish financial independence, wondering if I am trying to serve both God and money. What has been your perspective on this? Steve Steve This is always an issue to deal with for Christians. I struggle with it almost everyday especially knowing that so many people who want to work online just aren't willing to do all the work involved to make money consistantly. We must work and earn income in this world in order to take care of ourselves and our families. I believe what we do with the money we have left after our basic needs are met is important.... in order to follow and be close to the Lord. As long as you do like He told us and give to the poor and the church... I think we are doing His will. I also believe the amounts you give and the example you set in your everyday life [as a witness] is necessary to have a close relationship with Jesus and to get the full benefit of the Holy Spirit. As the Apostle Paul said in Romans 7... [paraphrased] For the good that I would, I do not; for the evil which I would not... that I do.... [Later] Oh wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God thru our Lord Jesus Christ So with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh, the law of sin. I hope this helps some Erich

Hi Erich, YES, I am! Praise Jesus... I didn't realize that you were a Christian when I began this, and I LOVE the fact that you are. It is GOOD to meet faithful Christians in this type of business (well any where for that matter), as it can be a bit rough for some. I am beginning a book about my Christian married life, and will start a ministry site after I get this one up and running. Can't wait to start Phase 1 ~ Sent you a couple emails... Hello Erich,
I used to think I was saved but over the years I have been losing my faith. I am a biology major and a pre-medical students at K-State. I love science and math but the study of scientific theorys and methodology has taken a toll on my faith. I have trouble accepting things as fact with out defenitive proof. Whenever I have brought up my problems to my family they just get angry with me and ask if I want to go to hell. That is most surely not the case. I have often looked for a organization that holds bible/christan study groups for those whom are in the fields of science and do not want to submit to the generally accepted drawanistic theorys. I know that you can't have "proof" in faith but I still have my doubts. It is hard for somebody like myself just to throw away our doubts and accept something as fact. I want to believe, I just find it hard to believe. I can't except that we just turn to dust.

I know that you can't have "proof" in faith but I still have my doubts. It is hard for somebody like myself just to throw away our doubts and accept something as fact. I want to believe, I just find it hard to believe. I can't except that we just turn to dust. -Corey Hi Corey
It's OK to think and to ask questions. That is why God gave you a brain. Don't worry - God's Truth can stand up to any questioning. Satan loves to wear down your faith. Surround yourself with those who will build you up. Seek and you will find - even in the halls of science. Creationists are among the clearest thinkers around because their minds are not clouded with impossible rubbish. Even devout evolutionists have admitted that had Darwin known then what we know now about genetics and cell structure, he never would have proposed the theory of evolution no matter how much he wanted to discredit God because he would have known that evolution is not possible.
Here are some sources of info to keep you busy for awhile:
If you are saved you are saved. You cannot lose your salvation.
SEZ WHO? The Savior, Himself. Read John 10:25-30. It can't get any more clear than that.

Hello Erich, I used to think I was saved but over the years I have been losing my faith. I am a biology major and a pre-medical students at K-State. I love science and math but the study of scientific theory's and methodology has taken a toll on my faith. I have trouble accepting things as fact with out definitive proof. Whenever I have brought up my problems to my family they just get angry with me and ask if I want to go to hell. That is most surely not the case. SandiCorey Sandi has listed some excellent Christian resources that have factual information on creation. The truth is there is more facts for the Bibles version of creation and the history of humankind than science can been able to prove. I too was heavily involved in science in school, but maintained my faith. But then during my time in school the education system did not try to stop or hinder Christan viewpoints.... Corey, remember all knowledge, wisdom, and understanding comes from God. That includes medical and scientific knowledge. I guess God could have inspired his chosen writers to write the Book of Science, as one of the Books of The Bible.... He did not...do that. He provided mankind the ability the to look at the world around him, the sciences, and everything else and say only God could have done that! Michael
