I hope you guys don't mind another prayer request.
A mom at church is pregnant with twins and who have been diagnosed with "Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome" which I had never heard of. It's not good. Click on the link for more info.
They have an appointment at USC Medical Center on Thursday (insurance approval permitting) to discuss treatment options. They found out fairly early in the pregnancy (good) because the case is rather severe. (Not good.) I believe she is 17-18 weeks right now.
Pray for wise medical decisions, a healthy outcome and God's ultimate peace no matter what.
Thanks
Sandi
PS: The parents' names are Bruce & Jennifer. They have 2 other sons. I do not know if the twins are boys or girls.

Hi Sandi,
I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope that things work out for the parents and twins, they are in my thoughts and prayers as well.

UPDATE:
The problems have progressed to the point where in-utero surgery must be done tomorrow (Friday) or risk losing one or both of the twins (who are boys, have tentative names and are no longer refered to as Thing 1 and Thing 2. )
After spending a great deal of time praying in the chapel, they have opted for laproscopic surgery which is much less risky than being opened up like a c-section, but the results have the potential of missing some of the blood vessels.
They go in at 9:00 AM PDT (GMT-7)
Thanks for praying.

Latest (and maybe the last necessary) Update:
The dad just called the church to report that the surgery was a big success anf the boys are doing fine. The "donor" has a smaller portion of the placenta so he is not completely out of the woods yet, but everyone seems very relieved and optimistic.
Thanks to all of you who have been praying!

VERY belated update.
The donor twin did survive the surgery, but unfortunately not much longer. It was touch-and-go for the recipient, but they finally let the mom go home, confined to total bed rest. Yeah, right, with 2 active sons. But the church and the school and the others in their lives pitched in with meals and laundry and housework and errands and transportation, etc. The mom was supposed to spend the second half of the pregnancy in the hospital where emergency help was only seconds away, but that became unnecessary.
Weekly sonograms have been hard, because both babies are still in there as they still share the placenta. But the parents have become quite good at reading what is on the screen, and the tech no longer has to explain anything!
Little by little she has been allowed to do more. Her husband recently joked, "How come she can go shopping but not do dishes?"
The whole family was in church Sunday.
I just ran into the whole family at the mall.
A c-section is scheduled for January 12 to deliver one healthy baby boy.
God is good. All the time.

I'd like to lift this family up in prayer again.
The baby is doing fine, but last night the dad was having chest pains and arm discomfort. They took him to the ER where all tests came back negative, but his level of discomfort was enough that they kept him overnight for observation.
It's a good thing they did because this morning he had a massive heart attack and is in ICU. The last I heard before I left church was that it was a blood clot and not heart disease. I will know more later tonight after our choir presentation as some of their closest friends are in choir and also in the medical field - as well as a hospital chaplain. (It pays to have friends in the right places!)
Please keep them in your prayers. Thanks.

Sandi This info is about 20 hours old, but as of last night the dad was doing much better than he had been earlier in the day. One of his nurses is a Christian and prayed with him. Some guys from church (including at least one of the chaplains) prayed with him and the 2 older sons were allowed into ICU to see him - all good things. Anyone who has ever had a loved one in ICU knows it can be challenging to "smuggle" in visitors!
Please keep praying as he is not yet out of the woods.
